The important stuff
Hi my name is Tim Kertscher, born in Hamburg, Germany. I am 24 years old, now also actually living in Hamburg and graduated form University in December 2015.
Some people might find me a bit strange and weird but I enjoy being a little different to everyone else :P. I want to start this Blog and possibly Vlog to let you entrepreneurs and wantreprenuers out there get a good and close insight of what is actually happening when you decide to start a tour into the unknown, exciting and devastating world of an entrepreneur starting his first (well actually second but this is something much different and bigger :P ) business.
Unfortunately, I have not started this Blog fast enough but today I felt like I can’t resist of telling the world what I learn EVERY DAY. The risks, the fun, the experience but also all the downfalls, emotional crushes you will undergo when you start something incredible.

Want to know more??
A little background about me (Fun Fact #1: I hate writing and reading). I am a son of a family that not only themselves can title themselves as entrepreneurs but also their entire family background has proven many incredible entrepreneurial skills in the last decades (Howald Family). My father is making a living of real estate and my mother, well she owned a translation service in Hamburg. Now I could say that I carry entrepreneurial blood in my veins but how am I ought to prove that?!
My early practice of entrepreneurship:
I remember my earliest attempt to act as an entrepreneur when I used to sell stones on the street together with my cousins. We would run around the beach and try to find a particular kind of stone that was only found along the coast of the Baltic sea. We then get a big stone, write on it that we are selling stones and how much the cost (I think it was something like 3DM at that time), set down on the floor and displayed all the stones that we had collected. It was worth it and we always screamed “STEINE ZU VERKAUFEN” to all passing people haha it was a great time!! |
So how did I get where I am now
Anyway, so I kept following the goal of one day owning my own hotel and (with this vision in mind) even started an MSc in Service Management. But as soon as I finished the degree and started to apply to all those offered graduate schemes I found that no matter what I was bringing to the table I was not bale to convince anybody. Strangely I started to question if this direction was right for me and it kept me thinking and depressed for quite some time.
Eventually I found myself with an amazing guy called Chris (Christopher Elliott)! He has been dealing with the same issue, he wanted to do something different for quite some time. We met twice and thought why not start something together BUT WHAT?! Long story short from an idea that we initially wanted to bring out in the market something else has emerged that would change my entire life. It is funny how one idea turns into a different idea within the time of research and creation of an idea. Thus we came from creating an interpreting app to a plan that will change the worlds ecosystem in the hiring process of talents straight from university.
Enough of the long talk! This is blog is not supposed to be about my past, there are too many stories out there that tell stories about the past. I want to bring you as close to the experience of what it means to start a business as possible. So hold on tight, read and learn… mostly form the mistake I’m most likely to encounter plus all the emotions I will have to fight with.
