The Search for a Coach
When starting something that you never have attempted to do then having someone to back you up with what is ahead of you, it can be a blessing that you will soon notice in the change of your project.
In this instance I have been on the lookout for a coach, a mentor who can review my milestones, ideas and all that I need a second opinion on. My parents suggested that a friend of their had said that he was interested in what I was doing and offered to help. Well, at first I was really nervous in the sense that I kinda felt that I don’t know how to handle this meeting. How much would I tell him? How could he help me? What is he doing that can help me?

The actual (first) Meeting
The second meeting was an absolute blast! My project was now A LOT clearer defined towards who my customers are, what I want to do and what problem I want to tackle. So before we tackled anything else Sven Kirkerup (my mentor) and I discussed the values of the business again, redefined the target market and laid out what should be be done next.
So this is how my outline of the actions were defined as according to when the project will be “going live”:
As the project was still without a Team my actions towards the design of the concept are really limited so my main focus in the meeting was to find members that would suit the team. So here it came down to the fact that Sven created a matrix with all the criteria that mattered to me when choosing a potential co-founder.

- Idea + Team
- Design
- Build
- Test
- Go-live
- Wrap-up

Without saying much about the results shown in the picture it was clear that my partner Christopher (remember yesterdays lecture?) was not a liable source in my team. At this point it was clear to me that my gut feelings were right and I need to talk to Christopher about the future of our partnership. This MUST be the end of our amazing relationship… at least in terms of the business venture.
The sad news!
My long loved name “Linkfish.me” is a no-go *cryingface*. A business consultancy in Hamburg already used the name and even though that my business idea is far from their services it was to high of a risk to try to register my brand and waste 300€. So tonight I was browsing through all types of different name generators and nearly let my head explode in the search for a similarly cool name!! Argh it was soo annoyinggg!! I came up with all these stupid names like “overstudent”, “connetictypal” and other stupid shit. And suddenly I found it… LinQfish!! Same pronunciation, same meaning but with the special effect of a Q that I know will be something special in this name! Let’s see haha

The Lesson:
Zum Bearbeiten hier klHaving a mentor by your side is a incredible asset that is especially valuable when you want to review what you have done or if you have reached a dead end in your project/business. A few notes to what to look at when choosing your mentor:
Sorry for the long blog! Take this imaginary Rock as a gift :)
- Ensure you have a mutual understanding of each other
- Always remember the value he or she has added to your life and pay them back later in life in ways they didn’t expect (not just money, think outside the box!)
- TRUST, make sure you feel comfortable sharing every little detail about your project with your mentor because this is the only way he can help you
- Don’t shy away from suggestions he makes and also question him/her if you feel that you are not happy with his suggestion or unsure what is meant.
